Stephanie's thoughts....

I read a column recently about what people eat, wear or watch while they are sick. It’s amazing how many people have traditional “feeling down” outfits. I thought I was the only one.

I have a green flannel nightgown with fake lace at the collar and cuffs. It’s ugly, really, and shapeless, but I love it. Just the act of putting it over my head can be comforting.

I’m that way with flannel shirts as well. I have exactly one that came from my grandfather’s house. My brother got the boots and maybe the hat, but I got a shirt. It snaps at the cuffs and I look like an ad for “Extreme Casual Fridays” wearing it, but I love it too much to give it up. I hope that the holes don’t get any bigger.

I don’t really have a “comfort food”, but I do love hot chocolate. I’ve never gone in for drinking coffee, but I’ll jump at hot chocolate. Something about holding the warm mug is soothing to me and just for a moment I’m okay again. It was a hard winter that turned into not so great of a spring. I went through many cups of hot chocolate.

As for what I listen to, the answer is nothing. When I’m really down, I put on my ugly green nightgown and crawl under the covers. I pile all my magazines on the bed and read each one cover to cover. Well, I try to at any rate. I usually fall asleep between articles.

Some people have their –Price is Right-, I have my –Woman’s World-. Hey, whatever it takes to feel human again, right?

Sometimes a person just has to drop out for a while. Nothing wrong with that.
